outline

Thesis statement: Todays generation knows what is wrong with our diet and what
goes into our food, but cant afford or even have it available like the products
they try to avoid.

Intro: when we walk into our local super market everything is packed with sugar
and other kinds of ingredients that are inside our food. We used to know where
our meat comes from but now the industry refuse to even put labeling from where
the meat. We think as more and more technology grows it would be healthier to
eat. The industry says its personal choice on rather if you want to eat there
food our not, but its hard when our world is filled with commercial that
advertise the unhealthy and dont give use the alternative product. Todays
generation know what wrong with our diet and whats goes into our food, but
cant afford or even have it available like the products they try to avoid.

Body #1: McDonalds pioneered the happy meal, McDonalds tries to see how he
society is living once there is a trend in food McDonald tries to follow Rhodes
trends to is gets harder for people to sway to q different food.

Body # 2 : we the people choose what we eat when we buy it. When we but food
it's like placing a vote toward the companies. If we start buying other products
That are healthy.

places instead of fast food and non organic products, we need to shop at the

Freakonomics

Freakonomics was a very interesting movie. It talked about how names might determine the outcome of the rest of your life, it talked about how there was corruption inside sumo, and the movie talked about and incentives that people have when they want something. Each of these ideas from the movie is a bigger part that takes over our world today. For example when they talk about corruption in sumo wrestling this can be a smaller picture of a bigger one. the example I think that of the sumo is probably the corruption in the government, because the US government have people worked inside the companies that there suppose to be passing laws aginast them. So the government is trying to protect the establishment instead of trying protect the people that pay taxes. The incentives of people is money that's what I got out of that segment of the movie because in the film the students that didn't do well in school the schools had to pay them to get better grades, but the movie was saying that people need an incentive to do something. Well if only money drives you to do well in ice thentheres something wrong and probably grow up to be corrupt like the politicanins in our government. The last segment they talked about names. In the film they were talking about how names determine the rest of your life. There were to economist that studied this and the first one said that names don't matter it's all about there environment that they live in that dictate the rest of there life, then the second economist they did a experiment and he made two job applications that had a different name and ethnicity but the same college and education and see if how many calls that each person gets, this experiment showed that there were more calls for the person with a white name and a with white ethnicity job more job calls then the other application. In my opinion the economist that did the studies they are both right because the environment and there ethnicity really does matter in life because people are almost brainwashed to do a certain way or think a certain way. When I look back into the film people don't really have answer on how we can change they way we live the people just want the easy way out of life intsead of trying to find and answer.

hw7b

chapter 4-when farm factories make a lot of grians they leave it outside on the ground and leave it in the rain even some famers leave there corn outside when being transported to the markets. corn is the number one crop. in 1970 there were 7 billion bushels now there are 13 billion because we created many other ways to use corn. use corn as fuel and feed for animals. (some animals that didnt even eat corn naturally)

hw7b

chapter 3- a lot of things changed in the farming industry from the crops the livestock and now even the soil since most of the crops need nitrogen to survive, since WW2 they had extra ammonium nitrate, at first the American government was going to use it help the timber industry but instead the helped the farmers. so  looking at this farming became less and less natural its just made to make more profit.

hw7

Chapter 1-corn is amazing in certain ways because it feeds a lot of people and it is easy to grow. but now we found to use it many other ways instead of just making a corn on a cob.90% of out supermarket have corn in their products. to see if there is corn there products try to find these names, modified starch, unmodified starch, glucose syrup, maltodextrin, ascorbic acid, crystalline fructose, lactic acid, MSG, Carmel color, xanthan gum.

Chapter 2-these days farmers changed there ways instead of seeing actual farms they now look like big factories. Everything has been made just for the companies to profit more instead of being safe and healthy farmers used to produce 30 different livestock and crops in 1920, more recently it shrunk to 8 different livestock and crop.
